365 Days!!
Friends! Friends! Friends! Okay don't freak out but today I officially hit my 1 year of being a missionary. That being said, I decided to list 365 things I've learned.... Haha just kidding! Though there has been a lot. My emotions are so mixed but overall I'm so thankful for ALL that I've experienced. I'm also so, so confused on how this happened. Soooooo I will be accepting all essays explaining how this happened. Thanks in advance!
Today our district went on a glorious hike! The weather was absolutely perfect and the view was beautiful. As we made our way down, I got distracted and oh so graciously fell down almost falling off the mountain. I'm sure it was quite the sight. Thankfully I am alive and only walked away with a pretty cool scrape on my leg.
Anyway, this week has been such a good one! We started it off by going to This Is The Place Heritage Park! It was gorgeous and it was all centered to help others learn about how the early members of the church arrived here in the Salt Lake Valley. It touches on the hardships they experienced, the faith they had to move forward, as well as gives us an understanding of what their lives were like settling a new territory. As we walked around the park we found a memorial for the children who passed away during their journey here. As I walked and read the names and ages of these sweet little ones, I came across a James Travers McClellan. He was my 3 great grand uncle who died at just one year old. Later, I found a George A. McClellan who was in a group of some of the first members to arrive here. It put everything into perspective to know that my family were among the ones who had the faith to follow the prophet and make the trek westward. They sacrificed so much to become so much more. It was their mission. Here on my own mission I hope to do the same. Remembering their legacy helps me each day as I too take steps forward in faith.
God is so good! I love Him!
