All in His Time

This week was crazy but I honestly don't have tons to share so I thought I would just share a story about a woman I met and the testimony I found in truly trusting in Heavenly Father's perfect timing.

Back at the beginning of August I met this girl on square and upon saying hi and asking how she was doing she just burst into tears and those tears continued for the next hour that we talked with her. She told us about how she was a member of our church and currently homeless (which you wouldn't have known without having talked with her) and then about all of these heart wrenching trials she was going through. I had no idea what to do or what to say. So I asked if we could pray with her right then and there as that was all I could think of doing. After praying, and she shedding tears and me a few myself, we had to part ways as the square was literally closing and it was dark. I remember walking home knowing I was going to a nice warm bed and she was headed to the local shelter. I felt hopeless wishing there was something more I could've given her or done for her. I even remember thinking, man I could've at least given her the book mark that was in my Book of Mormon.  It was literally right there in my hands. It was a picture of Christ hugging a little girl and had a beautiful quote about peace on the back. I then promised myself that the next time I saw her I would give it to her. Well friends, I saw her two times after that and both times made excuses as to why we couldn't go talk with her. Each time I chickened out.  Well this past Wednesday we were walking around the square talking with people and Sister Cummard suggested we walk to a certain area of the square. When we got there I saw the girl I met back in August! So I yelled out her name and we went over to talk with her. She was so happy to see us and to update me on everything that's been going on. She told us about this amazing handout she was given that really impacted her and her relationship with Heavenly Father. The conversation went on for  a while but then I remembered the BOOKMARK! So I was like hey I have something for you! She was surprised yet excited as I began to pull my bookmark out of my Book of Mormon and then handed it to her. When she took it she just gasped and then started crying and said "This is the picture. This is the exact picture" it turns out that was the picture on that handout and it was a picture that meant a lot to her. One that she felt so connected to.

I explained to her that I had wanted to give it to her before this moment and the things that had stopped me from doing so and then she stopped me and said that this was perfect. That if I had given to her any sooner it wouldn't have meant as much as it did right in that moment. She often comes to temple square to find peace and today she had decided she needed to come and find some sisters to talk to. Before we left she told me that Heavenly Father didn't bring her here to find just any Sister but that it was me He needed her to talk to.

I was so taken  back and truly humbled. I remember when I first met her thinking, why? Why does she have to experience so much pain in her life and why did Heavenly Father need me to be the one to run into her that day in August.  I'm just a 19 year old girl who has been extremely blessed not having to endure any such hardships. What could I possibly do that would help her and take away those pains. But I now know even more than I did then that He didn't need me to solve her problems or change her circumstances. He just needed me to be there, present in that moment and willing to love her as He would. And he needed me to be spiritually prepared to be able to receive promptings to do things or say the things He knows she needed.

It's like I say every week. God is so good. He knows us better than we know ourselves and loves us more than we can even comprehend. When we have faith and put our trust in Him we will see wonders ladies and gentlemen!

I invite you guys to spiritually prepare yourselves tomorrow and Sunday by listening to General Conference!  A meeting like no other, where we get to hear inspiring messages from a living prophet -  President Nelson,  and other apostles and church leaders. As we learn and strengthen our own testimonies and understanding of the Savior we will be surprised at the opportunities we're given to be in the right place and the right time to help the right people and be instruments in HIs hands.

God is so good!
