A 200°F VAT OF APPLESAUCE EXPLODED ON MA FACE
Friends, family, and any weirdos who are looking over your shoulder HELLO and welcome!
We're just going to go ahead and start with story time because with a subject line like that I cannot beat around any bush. So as most of you know we often get the opportunity to serve at Welfare Square which helps in making and supplying food for those who need it. Within Welfare Square there are three different parts/buildings that we work in those being the dairy, bakery, and cannery. This past week I worked in the cannery for the first time and possibly the last (just kidding haha) lets just say it left quite the mark on me.... Anyways on this particular day we were helping with the applesauce production. At one point we were the ones making sure the lids were tightly screwed on and fixing them as needed. During this process there was a certain point where we needed to bring one of the incredibly hot jars and pour it back into the huge vat of applesauce that it came from. It was at the exact moment that I began to pour my jar that the tube inside of the vat began to pour its own applesauce. Thus causing the 200°F applesauce to come flying at my face hitting my eyelid, forehead, and hair. Let me just say OUCH. It was anything but pleasant and ended up actually burning my eyelid leaving quite the mark. Who knew applesauce could be so dangerous.
Okay now for some more exciting news! About a week ago I received a call from my mission president saying that the church headquarters mission needed me! Besides the fact that I'm just amazing ;) they were in need of some extra help with interpreting! They have quite a few deaf missionaries in their mission and because they have frequent devotionals they needed more hands that could help lighten the load. That all being said yesterday was my first day on the "job" and I was terrified. All of Sunday I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown as the next day was quickly approaching. That being said I made sure to prepare myself both physically but also very much spiritually because I knew I would be needing Heavenly Fathers help for this. The morning finally came and friends I did it! As I interpreted this lovely lady's talk I could feel Heavenly Father helping me to feel not only calm but also the spirit as I was signing.
To leave off on a spiritual note I just wanted to share something that Heavenly Father taught me as I bore testimony of His Son in front of the Christus statue this morning. Sister Bradshaw and I were giving a virtual tour to a man who recently got baptized as well as to the sisters that have had the pleasure to work closely with him. The tour in it of itself was honestly amazing. There were many laughs and stories that were shared and we were all really strengthened through the history of each building. Whenever anyone testifies of Jesus Christ there is always I mean always a stronger spirit that is felt and today the spirit showed me another reason why. And it is simply this, Heavenly Father will never miss the opportunity to defend His Son or to show His children that He is there. And the same is said for us. God sent His Son to defend us to walk with us and to help us return to our Father in Heaven. He loves us and yearns for us to feel the love that He so freely gives. Friends I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He loves us. He is our older brother and when we turn to Him we will find the most joy and peace regardless of any of life's storms we find ourselves in.
I love and miss you all tons!
God is good!
