Last Man Standing
Wow and just like that this transfer ends tomorrow which means S. Llorens and I will no longer be together. I get a new companion and I will officially be the last ASL sister here on the Square (send help!). Thus making me the last man standing. I'm kind of really nervous but I am excited for the opportunity it will give me to teach more people in ASL and really push myself to learn more and improve.
We were pretty lucky this Sunday I must say. Not only was it our first time that all of us sisters could meet together for sacrament meeting, but we also got a special visit from President Oaks and his dear wife. They both spoke and were absolutely amazing! As Sister Oaks said, "The dullest pencil is better than the sharpest memory" so here are some of things I learned and recorded in my journal:
From Sister Oaks:
- Look at us all wearing masks all covered up. Similarly the Salt Lake Temple is all covered up with scaffolding, trucks, and dirt. But the Lord's hands have never been more over it or over us.
- It's the little choices that strengthen your testimony and make all the difference.
- Sometimes when you don't find answers or your mind goes blank, know that that may be God telling you not to worry about it. That it will all work out.
President Oaks:
- The Lords refers to a feeling as a key way of communication with us. A feeling of warmth like comfort, serenity, and peace.
It was just so good and so very needed!
Yesterday I also filmed a video with another sister signing a song! We did it out at the Great Salt Lake and it was gorgeous! It was three hours of short sleeves and bare feet and by the end of it I thought I was going to die. My feet became like ice blocks that felt detached from my body. And for some reason I was expected to walk like that for the whole mile back to the car. Ouch! It was the most painful thing ever, BUT like I said the view was great!! The song we signed was I Stand All Amazed and wow I love that song so much. Each time we practiced and then performed I could just feel the Spirit so strongly. I truly do stand all amazed knowing that Christ did atone for each of our sins enduring much pain and suffering. And despite how we may feel about ourselves He would still do it even if it were just for you. His grace is sufficient!
I love and miss you all!
God is good!
