Friends hello! It been a full week of the transfer and a full week with my new companion Sister Davis. She's from Arizona and is so sweet!
This week Lusiel, our friend from Brazil, got baptized!! It was the most precious thing ever! Although Sister Oaks and I are no longer together we were still able to meet up and watch his baptism together. It has been so amazing to see the change and progress he's made in coming closer to Christ. We met him at the beginning of last transfer and then met with him almost everyday so it was really cool to see everything come full circle. The coolest thing to see was at the end of the baptism when a man from the congregation addressed Lusiel. He started by inviting all the men in the room to come to the front and then last asked Lusiel to come and join them. He then told him they were brothers now and that they had each other's backs. It was so precious and made me so happy to know that he was being taken care of and welcomed by his new church family.
This week I got a call from sisters saying there were people on square looking for an ASL tour. Upon arriving to the square we found the sweetest couple. Their first language was Korean sign language, but they knew enough ASL to communicate. And communicate we did!! For a whole 2 hours haha. They loved learning about all the history and seeing the cool sites. They would often stop and want to take pictures with us or with other sisters around us. It was so fun.
We also gave another accidental 2 hour tour to this Christian youth group and their director. It was so good! The tour quickly became just a discussion as they had tons of questions. It was amazing to share our beliefs, but also to hear theirs as well. They were genuine with all their questions and were truly seeking to understand. One of many things that I took away from our discussion was Christ's power to connect others. At then end of the day we were all connected in the strong belief that Jesus Christ truly is the Savior of the world. We probably could've talked for so much longer but soon they needed to leave. So with thankful goodbyes and new friends on Facebook we went our separate ways. A couple of days later the director messaged us a thank you as well as informed us that he was interested in learning more! So we'll see where that goes :))!
God is good!
