I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!

Friends! The subject line says it all.....I love being a missionary!!!

I recently finished reading the Book of Mormon and wow. Reading it over again felt as if it were just the first time. My knowledge grew and my understanding deepened. Each time I read I would feel so much joy and peace despite what was going on. I love it so much and I know with all my heart that it is true! I felt so accomplished but that was very short lived when the very next day our mission president challenged us to start and finish the Book of Mormon within the period of the transfer (6 weeks). Soo whoooo haha. Here we go again!

This week has been a week of miracle conversations! Last night as we knelt and prayed thanking God for each of them a quote by the prophet President Russell M. Nelson popped in my head. I think that explains all the miracle conversations we've been having. These conversations were pretty long so I'll just share the highlights from each!

Richard:
He seemed pretty knowledgeable of some of our beliefs. He has friends who are members and even has his own copy of the Book of Mormon that's just been sitting around. This being said we were surprised when he said "so the Book of Mormon is just about Joseph Smith's life right?" We quickly did some explaining and shared that it has a similar timeline as the Bible and I even opened the book showing him the dates. With that he exclaimed "Well now I have to read it!" Hahaha. It was so cool to have him look me in the eye and tell me that I had convinced him to read the Book of Mormon. Before he left he told us he would begin reading that night!

Gina & Omar:
They were the most precious couple ever!
I wish I could share all but there's just too much that was discussed. At one point as we stood there the wife pointed to the seagull monument and asked what it was. They guessed that they were Angel's or maybe eagles but as we told them that they were seagulls their eyes lit up. We explained the story of how seagulls were an answer to a prayer of the members of the church. Soon after the Saints settled in the Salt Lake Valley their newly planted crops were threatened by floods of crickets. Just as they were about to devour all in sight the seagulls miraculously appeared as an answer to their prayers. After we shared this story the husband stopped us and said that just a few days ago his wife had a dream. In her dream a seagull was the very thing that saved their lives. After he explained this he looked at us and asked, "Was this just a coincidence or was that a sign from God? " I couldn't answer that question for him but I could tell him that in this story the seagull was a sign to the people that God was aware of them. It was so cool as Omar told us that he knew Gods hand must've been in all of this.

Both of them over and over mentioned the spirit that they felt. I testified to them that it was the Holy Ghost. It was so special. My heart has felt so full as I serve here on these holy grounds.

President Ezar Taft Benson once said, "There is a power in the book of which will begin to flow into our lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book." This week has been a testament of that statement.

God is so good I feel so lucky to be one of His missionaries. :))
