Lehi, Lights, & Lots of Cereal

Hey friends! Not much has changed this past week. Time seems to continue at its rapid pace and people just keep on coming. Giving tours is still my favorite whether in English or ASL, it is the best! I feel so lucky to be a missionary and to be serving here on Temple Square.

Last night we talked with these three young adults. They had met with sisters earlier on the square but the sisters didn't have much time to stay and visit. They were only able to give them a copy of the Book of Mormon as well as a brief overview. They let us know that they still had a lot of questions. They asked about prophets, the Book of Mormon, the Bible and so on. We soon found that the one with most of the questions was Muslim. He was very kind. Before he left he said that he hoped they had been respectful of everything (which they had). It was very sweet. As a departing question I asked "what is one thing you believe and that you wished other people knew?" It was a simple answer "Jesus Christ. That we believe in Him". So in departing I assured him that we would let other people know if they ever asked or just didn't know that they too share a belief in Jesus Christ. It was such a good experience. I just love when people are so genuine and so sincere and we can find common ground.

I recently started reading the Book of Mormon again and just as always I love it!! I was reading in 1 Nephi chapter 17 and there was a part that really stuck out to me this time! It was in verse 6 and it said, "and notwithstanding we had suffered many afflictions and much difficulty, yea, even so much that we cannot write them all, we were exceedingly rejoiced when we came to the seashore; and we called the place Bountiful, because of its much fruit." It was just amazing to see that after the years of hardships and trials they had arrived to a beautiful place in which the Lord had prepared for them. It really showed me God's love and reminded me that He was mindful of them and their pain. Enough so that he prepared a special place that was bountiful with not only fruit, but also many blessings. I believe that God works in the same patterns with us. Though at times we may find ourselves in a time of great difficulty as we journey through our own lives, I have faith that just as for Lehi and his family the Lord has something great in store for us.

God is good!
