The SLC Camp Site
Wow friends!
In case no one has let you know SLC smells like a straight up intense camp fire. It's because of the fires California is experiencing. We felt really sad for the people who live there and are sending our prayers their way. Thankfully the only sad thing about it for us is that we weren't eating any s'mores.
This week has been crazy! We saw so many wild things. Whether it was a crazy man chasing after us and a few others or weird guys yelling at the temple....we have seen it all.
This week we also had a really cool lesson with our friends from Peru again! This time around it went a little differently. We soon found that my American Sign Language was way too complicated to understand so we had to change gears a little bit. I tried being super simple as well as using gesture (basically charades) to interpret. Though as I began to do this it was the cutest thing to watch as things began to click for her. She was so excited! Then she took it a step further and ran to grab a notebook. She would then have me sign each sentence and learn each new sign by writing it down and then repeating it back to me. She was willing to take so much time just to understand and learn. It was beyond tender. We were on that call for a really long time... yea but it was so worth it!! I felt so lucky to be able to play a part in helping her learn more about the gospel, connecting to her heart and just seeing her get so excited.
The gospel is so true! I feel it and see it every day. It makes me feel so blessed.
