Winding Down

Friends, my heart is freaking out because after today you'll only be getting one more email from me until I get home! AHHHH......Needless to say I try not to think about it.

This week has been good though, but I don't have too much to report. I did give my departure talk on Sunday. It went pretty good -haha. It was weird, after seeing so many sisters give theirs, to finally have my turn. It was a little unreal and I'm still not sure I actually spoke. We had an amazing tour with an amazing group of people this week. There were a lot of different people who joined, they were all so kind and invested in the tour. We probably got asked at least 100 questions, but they were so sincere and genuine. We were able to find so many things we had in common as well as make real friendships. It was the best! I love sharing this gospel!

Because I don't have too much to share I thought I'd share something that stuck out to me during my personal study. I was reading the Book of Mormon, with one of our friends we're teaching in mind, and this is what I learned. In Alma chapter 60 I saw how Moroni felt so abandoned. He was in the middle of a war, amid great sufferings and he was hurt. Although his feelings were addressed to Pahoran, the government leader, I read it as if it was addressed to God. As I read verses 5-9 I could hear him and imagined him asking questions such as these: "Where have you been?", "Why have you been so silent?", "Don't you love me?", "I've given everything to you. I tried to put my trust in you and it was so hard. I thought this would be different," "Did I really work this hard for nothing?" How many times have we felt this way? The next verses state that God had heard all their cries, and all their sufferings were known. Pahoran's response to all of this was, "I do not joy in your afflictions, yea, it grieves my soul." I know this is how Heavenly Father feels and one day I know our response to this can be as Moroni's when he said, my "heart did take courage, and was filled with exceedingly great joy because of the faithfulness of Pahoran, that he was not a traitor...". We really can trust God. He is always on our side.

I love you guys so much!.

God is good.
